Understanding Power. Explaining Governance. Confronting Democratic Decline.
At a time when institutions feel strained and public trust is eroding, the question is no longer whether government is under pressure—but whether we truly understand how it works.
I examine the growing gap between expectation and reality in modern governance. My work focuses on democratic decline, institutional strain, and the limits of political power in the United States and globally.
This book explores the policies that reshaped the country’s trajectory. It examines the American Rescue Plan that accelerated economic recovery, the bipartisan infrastructure law rebuilding roads, bridges, ports, and broadband across thousands of American communities, and the Inflation Reduction Act—the largest climate and clean-energy investment in U.S. history. Together, these initiatives sought to modernize American industry, strengthen supply chains, and position the country for long-term economic resilience.
The narrative also highlights a remarkable labor market rebound, with millions of jobs created and manufacturing returning to regions that had long felt left behind. At the same time, Biden reshaped the federal judiciary, appointing one of the most diverse benches in American history—including Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
But this book is more than a catalogue of policy achievements. It is a story about leadership under pressure—about governing in an era when institutions were tested and faith in democracy was uncertain.
